Chula Vista Genealogy Society General Meeting
"The Scots-Irish Migration Into America"
Presented by: Peggy Lauritzen
Due to concern about the corona virus, the city of Chula Vista libraries haves been closed.
All CVGS meetings have been cancelled at these facilities until further notice. The Libraries are now open to limited use and the Society is in the process of arranging use of rooms for our meetings. Until those arrangements are finalized we will continue to meet on ZOOM.
So, join us this month for our general meeting on virtual meeting with Peggy Lauritzen
If you are not already receiving invitations to our ZOOM meetings please contact Randy Seaver at: randy.seaver@gmail.com and request your invitation.
Many Americans can trace their ancestry back to the British Isles. Some have even heard that their background was “Scotch-Irish.” This presentation will focus on the “Scots-Irish.” Just who are they and what brought them to America? Why did they settle in New York, Canada, New England, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the Appalachian frontier?
Peggy Lauritzen has been an Accredited Genealogist for nearly twenty-five years, and has been involved in genealogy research her entire life. She is the author of several Legacy QuickGuides on Appalachia, an instructor at Ancestry Academy and Family Tree University, an instructor at several GRIP and SLIG courses, and a columnist for Reminisce Magazine. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Laura G. Prescott Award for Exemplary Service to Professional Genealogy and became a Fellow of the Ohio Genealogical Society. She is a former researcher at Ancestry ProGenealogists.
