Chula Vista Genealogy Society General Meeting
“Photo Dating, 1840-1890”
Presented by: Claire Santos-Daigle
Photo dating by what clothes were worn, is a process of learning to identify
photographic processes and recognizing specific clothing terms and hairstyles. We will briefly cover 1840 to 1890, then concentrate on the 1840 compared to 1850 time frame in depth, which should give you the foundation for comparing other decades with the same techniques.
Claire Santos-Daigle is the sole proprietor of Photos Made Perfect, licensed in the state of California, in Chula Vista. She and her husband Michael became involved with digital photo restoration when Michael started his genealogy in 1992 and they began restoring family photos with a free software. Family and friends kept saying "you should start a business" and in 1999 they did, with her husband's technical skills and support and Claire's art skills, life experiences and marketing background. Their customer focus group is genealogists and historical societies, which remain loyal clients to this day.
Claire is a guest speaker on the topic of "Digital Image Editing" and as a natural byproduct of her years of experience with photos, she also speaks on the topic of "Photo Dating." When she participates in genealogy conferences, she encourages genealogists to bring their photos to be scanned on site at these events and then contacts them in a few days with a free quote. No other restoration service brings their services to you.
Following the presentation by our guest speaker there will be raffle drawings, refreshments and fellowship to complete the program.
Please register soon if you plan to attend this meeting so that we may better plan for this event.
