DIANE'S COMMENTS ABOUT THE TALK AND INTERACTIVE EVENT.

I think it is going to be a DO NOT MISS EVENT.

Besides talking about FamilySearch.org, I will be incorporating some of the things I have been developing for our next Family History Day.

For me, FamilySearch.org is just one tool in my arsenal.  I use many other tools when I am trying to place someone on my family tree or on the tree of a person whom I am assisting.  For that reason, we will see a variety of research items.

One of my wonderful families is named Houghton.  They started in England, went to Canada, some ended up in the United States, and others now live in far away Australia.  Lucky for us today, when we do research, we can use DNA, emails, photography, maps, and etc., to make connections and to break down long standing brickwalls.

I will be showing some of my other families and numerous posters.  I will be asking for audience participation and I would be pleased if you would be at my side to help me as needed.

I was well trained in how to do family search in the late 1970’s.  I used to work with a program called PAF.  Personal Ancestral Files.  Other great companies have come along with their own programs but PAF was always excellent for me and I still call upon it in my hard copy files.  I have my own style of genealogy and I am hopeful that some of what I have done and learned, will be helpful to others.

I look forward to presenting to the Saturday group of the Chula Vista Genealogical Society on July 6, 2019, in the Bonita Library.

Sincerely,

Patricia Diane Godinez
