Chula Vista Genealogy Society General Meeting

"Discovering the Nicholas Family in the British Isles"

Presented by: Colin Whitney

Due to concern about the corona virus, the city of Chula Vista has closed all libraries.

All CVGS meetings are cancelled at these facilities until further notice. As soon as we have any updates, our members will be notified.

So, join us this month for our general meeting on ZOOM virtual meeting with Colin Whitney, presenting.

If you are not already receiving invitations to our ZOOM meetings please contact Randy Seaver at:

and request your invitation.

Colin WhitneyColin Whitney was born and raised outside London, England and attended high school at the Ottershaw Boarding School. He studied physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to obtain his Doctorate. He accepted a position there as Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department before continuing his research at the Central Research Laboratory of the Sperry Rand Corporation. In the late 1970s he moved to California joining the Hughes Aircraft Company in Culver City, California as a technical manager. Later he transferred to their Missile Systems Group and moved with them to Tucson, Arizona where became the Technical Director. He retired in 1999.

Colin married his wife, Caroline, in 1966 and has two daughters, Kristina and Jennifer. His interest in genealogy started in 2009 when he began researching his stepmother’s ancestry. He then directed his attention to finding his own and his wife’s ancestors. His current interests include using DNA to help genealogical research and the British Isles.

Attendance is free but only 100 seat are available so please register soon.
